    How to apply: Enroll in the NE Veteran’s Registry (nebraska.gov/va_registry) first, then order DV plates online with a VA benefit summary showing 10%+.

    Registration, parking, and toll notes

    Registration fees/taxes still apply currently — but starting Jan. 1, 2026, a new motor vehicle tax AND fee exemption applies to one personal vehicle for disabled veterans.

    No dedicated disabled-veteran toll program confirmed in Nebraska.

    Nebraska property tax benefits

    Reviewed September 2026: qualifying 100% permanent service-connected disability or VA individual unemployability uses Category 4V; 100% temporary disability uses Category 7. Income limits do not apply to these categories. File Form 458 with the county assessor. Category 4V renews in years ending in 0 or 5, with new/status-change filings; other categories differ. The regular deadline has passed; medical late filing has separate requirements.

    Nebraska's dependent Waiver of Tuition requires qualifying veteran status, student eligibility and both NDVA approval and school certification. Obtain the school's Part VI in addition to the downloaded application; confirm covered fees and remaining charges before assuming the bill is paid.

    Nebraska recreation benefits

    Qualifying Nebraska residents with 50%+ service-connected disability OR total permanent non-service-connected disability with a VA pension may receive a free lifetime small-game hunting/fishing/fur permit. No $5 annual renewal for this disability permit. Federal Duck Stamp/HIP and separate permits remain; request the free park-entry permit separately. Camping costs extra.
