Connecticut military retirement pay tax
Connecticut exempts pension and IRA/401(k) income if federal AGI is under $75k single / $100k joint — treated as exempt under that limit.
Connecticut disabled veteran license plate
Eligibility: CT resident veteran with a registered vehicle, documented SC disability, discharge papers + VA disability letter.
How to apply: Any DMV full-service office, VA approval letter on VA letterhead. Max 3 sets of DV plates per registrant.
Agency: DMV
Registration, parking, and toll notes
No fee for new registration/transfer/renewal (title/lien fees may still apply). Parking: the "Overtime Parking Permit" (Form A-19) allows 24-hr parking but explicitly does NOT cover handicap spaces.
No dedicated disabled-veteran toll program confirmed in Connecticut.
Connecticut property tax benefits
2026 review: qualifying VA-rated 100% permanent-and-total service-connected disability can exempt the eligible primary dwelling, or one vehicle if no qualifying dwelling. Land coverage, value caps and individual-unemployability relief depend on municipal options. File D-2 annually by January 1 with the municipal assessor; other veterans exemptions have different requirements.
Connecticut education benefits
Eligible Connecticut wartime veterans and Guard members can seek campus tuition benefits. Apply through the school, confirm covered charges and renew any term certification. Charter Oak's current discount differs from the statewide overview; ask its bursar before budgeting.
Connecticut recreation benefits
September 2026 review: free disability hunting/fishing licenses require specific qualifying disability and medical proof, not just a service-connected rating. Apply through selected DEEP offices or participating town clerks. The separate resident Disabled Veteran Pass covers named park exhibits, not camping; Connecticut-registered vehicles already have state-park parking access.
