Veteran Readiness & Employment may provide employment, training, education, or independent-living support. A VA counselor determines entitlement after evaluation. Veterans discharged on or after January 1, 2013 have no 12-year eligibility limit. Earlier discharges have a basic 12-year period measured from the later qualifying date and may qualify for an extension for a serious employment handicap.
