- Less-than-honorable discharge? VA's 2024 rules expanded eligibility — PTSD, TBI, and MST now count as mitigating factors. Worth applying.
Travel, recreation, and discounts
- Free lifetime national park pass for veterans and Gold Star families
- Vet Tix — donated tickets, subject to availability and delivery fees
- Space-A flights for retirees and eligible veterans
- Vacations For Veterans — historical lodging program. Current applications are not confirmed open: the provider still displays a 2015 closure notice. Its stated scope is Purple Heart recipients from the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns. Confirm availability directly before making plans or sharing documents.
- Many states add free park entry, fishing, and hunting licenses — check your state veterans office.
