Eligibility not verified - check the provider
U.S. veterans, including former Guard/Reserve members, and qualifying Gold Star families. Serving members/dependents have a separate annual pass.
Covered
Covered federal entrance and standard day-use fees. Not a state-park pass.
Still payable or excluded
Camping, tours, special permits, reservation fees and concession charges are not covered.
Family and companions
Passholder and occupants of one private noncommercial vehicle; at per-person sites, passholder plus three people age 16 or older. Check the site's charging method.
What to gather
Accepted DoD ID, VHIC, Veteran ID Card, or veteran designation on a state ID/license; Gold Star applicants use the official voucher.
How to apply or use it
Use the NPS page to locate a participating pickup site or the digital application.
Bring the accepted identification and obtain the pass before using the benefit.
Reserve separately where required; keep the passholder present and verify any charges not waived.
U.S. citizen/resident with a medically determined permanent disability severely limiting a major life activity. A 100% VA rating is not required; do not infer permanence from a rating alone.
Covered
Covered federal entrance/day-use fees; some expanded amenities may receive a discount. Compare this pass with the military pass if you qualify.
Still payable or excluded
No blanket campground discount or free lodging. Operator, facility and reservation charges vary; confirm the exact site.
Family and companions
Federal entry rules cover the passholder's qualifying party; an amenity discount need not extend to every companion, vehicle or campsite.
What to gather
Photo ID and accepted permanent-disability documentation specified by NPS.
How to apply or use it
Review NPS's documentation list and obtain the pass through a listed official pickup or online route.
Ask the campground which Access Pass discount, if any, applies to the exact campsite and operator.
Apply the accepted pass during booking; do not assume it combines with another discount on the same fee.
California resident with honorable discharge and qualifying wartime service plus at least 50% combined service-connected disability; separate former-POW/Medal of Honor routes exist.

Covered vehicle day-use, family camping and boat-use fees at participating California State Park-operated units, subject to pass terms.

Supplemental/extra-vehicle fees and excluded facilities or services may remain payable. Approval does not secure a campsite.

The benefit applies to the eligible passholder's covered vehicle or campsite. Confirm capacity, boat and per-person activity rules.

How to apply or use it
Open the official requirements page and current Distinguished Veteran Pass application.
Submit the requested evidence directly to State Parks, not VetOps, and wait for approval.
Use the approved pass and linked ReserveCalifornia account when booking; confirm the discount before paying.
Keep contact details current for passcard renewal and check cancellation/no-show rules.
Currently serving military and veterans of all branches, including eligible immediate family of those killed in action, subject to provider verification.

Published application criteria: veteran with a military or VA rating of at least 70% and honorable discharge, or active duty with a Purple Heart. Combat-related injuries receive priority.
Covered
Provider-sponsored all-inclusive retreats for accepted participants. A listing is not an available vacation package.

Placement is not guaranteed. Confirm exactly which transport and incidental costs the offered retreat covers before spending money.
Family and companions
Individual, couple, family and other retreat formats vary. The provider must approve the participating party.
