Alabama property tax benefits
2026 review: qualifying permanent-and-total disability can exempt the principal residence and up to 160 adjacent acres, without an income limit. A 100% rating alone is not county approval. Separate paths cover qualifying VA specially adapted homes and age-65 households with combined net federal taxable income of $12,000 or less. Apply to the county property tax office.
Alabama education benefits
Alabama G.I. Dependent Scholarship: eligible family members, not the veteran, may receive up to $400 per credit hour and a combined $1,000 per semester for required textbooks and applicable fees. Residency, qualifying-school, aid and semester limits apply; not unlimited free tuition.
Alabama recreation benefits
September 2026 review: qualifying Alabama resident veterans can purchase discounted lifetime hunting at 40%+ VA-certified disability and fishing at 20%+; these are not free licenses. Annual hunting has different thresholds. Apply through ADCNR or the county licensing office and confirm current fees. Park admission and the military camping discount are separate.
