Your state
Select where you live or plan to retire. Living in a state and meeting a benefit’s requirements are separate checks.
Build a benefits application checklist or plan park visits with passes, application steps and a trip budget.
Tax words used below: Adjusted gross income (AGI) is income after certain adjustments, before the standard or itemized deduction. A deduction or exclusion removes income from the amount taxed. A credit reduces the tax itself. A phaseout means a benefit gets smaller as income rises. A nonrefundable credit can reduce tax to zero, but its unused amount does not create a refund.
Browse state benefit guides
These guides contain the same benefit summaries as the state selector. Keep a note of the benefit, the office to contact, and any deadline you need to confirm.

The state veteran benefits report
Find state benefits and the steps to apply.
Compare six areas: retirement-pay taxes, disabled veteran plates, tolls, property taxes, education, and recreation. Each summary helps you check the requirements and prepare your next step; it does not approve a benefit.

Estimate your retirement budget
Use the retirement calculator to compare estimated pension, VA disability, and TSP income with taxes and household bills. Results depend on your inputs and the calculator's stated assumptions; some state-tax rules remain under review. VetOps is not VA, a VSO, or a government agency. No guaranteed outcomes.
